In last September, Google created a buzz by releasing one of their tools called ‘Sidewiki’. Sidewiki is simply your browser extention in the form of a sidebar or leftmenu where people can leave comments on your web site.

Read what sidewiki means in Google own terms

“Google Sidewiki is a browser sidebar that enables you to contribute and read helpful information alongside any web page.”

Intention is good but it might backfire if Google can not handover a little control to the webmasters in the form of an option to display comments or dis/allow commenting by somebody etc.

Meanwhile webmasters might want to view any comments posted on their web sites … This can be acheived by installing Google toolbar. And yes, Google is almost forcing you to install their toolbar.

But there is another option if you don’t like to install the Google toolbar … Subscribe to sidewiki comment feeds!

IF YOU WANT TO SEE ALL COMMENTS POSTED ON ALL PAGES OF A WEB SITE:

http://www.google.com/sidewiki/feeds/entries/domainpath/www.YOURWEBSITE.com%2F/default?sortorder=updated&includeLessUseful=true

Change ‘YOURWEBSITE’ to your site name.

.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE ALL COMMENTS POSTED ON A SPECIFIC PAGE OF A WEB SITE:

http://www.google.com/sidewiki/feeds/entries/webpage/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.YOURWEBSITE.com%2FYOURFOLDER%2Findex.php/full

You need to enter URL that is encoded. Not the plain simple url.

http://www.YOURWEBSITE.COM/FOLDERNAME/index.php

should be converted by URL decoder/encoder into

http%3A%2F%2Fwww.YOURWEBSITE.COM%2FFOLDERNAME%2Findex.php

You can also subscribe to the feed or save the urls in your Favorites folder to access them in future.
