| | Creates daily log files in standard NCSA combined format using server side includes. All you need is access to run cgi scripts on your server and a little bit of common sense. The beauty of this script and why I wrote it is that it creates log files in an accepted standard format (including remote host, date and time, page requested, bytes sent, referer, browser and operating system) so that you can use any standard log analysis program.

| | This script goes through the referer_log file on your server and counts how many times your page is referred to by each URL. It then produces a table to be viewed from the web with a link to each URL that refers to you, how many times the link on that page has been followed to reach your page (since the referer_log was emptied) and the percentage of people coming from that particular page.

Calculates raw hits, page views, bookmarked visitors, home page views, unique visitors, bandwidth, page views per visitor, operating systems and browsers used, error reports, lists top refering URLS, most and least popular webpages on your site, and even does security checks to warn you of hackers trading passwords and networks launching password hurler attacks. This may not be as pretty as Web Trends but its a hell of alot more useful. Runs automatically via crontab.
