In its simplest form, bmarkcgi takes a Netscape bookmarks file stored somewhere on your Web site and presents it as a Web page. The default behaviour doesn't change the input file much - it just changes the background colour to white and centres the title. But there are various things you can do to control the output like bullets, header, footer, multiple files, private items etc.

Just submit your bookmarks file and a full tree is returned to you, including entries marked as "new" if they were added in the last week. Any user can use this utility, then copy the returned source code to put on their site for an impressive list of links. Or, you can upload your bookmarks file and have it read from the file each time, rather than submitting your bookmarks file.

Weblinks are seperated by category, and are automatically moderated by the number of accesses to them through this system, and time to the last time they were accessed. Users of the system can also moderate links up or down manually.
