 UNHURLER | This script stops password thieves in their tracks. Private eye will protect your server in the event of a leak. This script prevents most of those leaks. Some passwords are bought and then released into the general public. Others are lifted off of your server with scripts. Hackers will setup scripts with word dictionary list that will pound your server for hours trying to guess usernames and passwords. They will guess things like Dallas and cowboys, inkjet and printer. When people select their password and username, they usually pick something they can remember. This leaves holes in your server security. This script will monitor your members area looking for 401 errors. Whenever someone unsuccessfully guesses a username or password, your server will issue them a 401 error. When this script sees that error, it goes into action logging that user into its own custom log file. The log file flushes itself automatically. When ever the user has guessed wrong a certain number of times as defined by you, the script will ip number of the attacker from making any further guesses. The script automatically flushes both the log and the banned files periodically.
